GOD BLESS AMERICA

PICT0097God bless America.  Yes, God, we know you’ve said, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  (II Chronicles 7:14)  Please help us to turn back to You.  And I want it to start with me.

Land that I love.  Yes, Lord, I do love America.  I love You more, but I love this land you’ve given me.

Stand beside her and guide her.  I know You’re willing, Lord.  I pray our leaders will let You guide us.

Through the night with a light from above.  Your light is the only one that will help us.  May we not try to find our own way, but look to your light.

From the mountains to the prairies, to the ocean white with foam.  Lord, I’ve lived in or been to many of these, and I love it all–your creation.  Please let our people and our leaders know it’s Your creation and that you will keep it from harm, as you say in Genesis 8:22, “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”  May they realize this, Lord.

God bless America, my home sweet home.  You’re providing a better home for us, Lord.  In the meantime, I like this one.  Please may we become blessable.

(Irvin penned these words, I believe in the 1930s.)

God please continue to bless America.
